If you would like to help as a volunteer, please contact us via e-mail or call our office at 215-952-5271.
The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation relies on the involvement and support of volunteers from across the Delaware Valley. Volunteers are critical to our mission as they:
- Help children put on their equipment
- Coach beginning skaters
- Provide encouragement for children as they step on the ice for the first time
- Serve as mentors and role models
Hockey or skating experience is helpful but not required, as we need both female and male volunteers to help students in each locker room before and after practice.
How It Works
Volunteers assist the Foundation at School Day and After School sessions at rink locations in and around Philadelphia.
- ESYHF hosts 20-40 students who have had little or no exposure to ice hockey.
- Students arrive at rinks approximately 30 minutes prior to the beginning of practice.
- ESYHF, in conjunction with its volunteers, provides the opportunity for students to experience the fun of hockey with the hope that they will develop a passion for the game.
How to Get Involved
The ESYHF can especially use help with getting the kids into and out of their equipment. The ESYHF has opportunities for volunteers to assist as:
- On- and off-ice helpers
- Coaches
- Mentors
