Players Appear at Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone
As part of a weeklong ESYHF summer camp from June 23rd to June 27th at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia, ESYHF camp participants were able to enjoy on-ice practice and Q&A session with Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn, as well as a motivational speech from Flyers left winger Riley Cote.
Braydon Coburn visited the camp on Tuesday, June 24th and his presence was felt immediately. At 6’5” – 225lbs, Coburn towered over every participant at the camp, however, once he starting speaking with the players and helping them with their passing and skating, the kids looked to him as a coach.
After an on-ice session with the Mites, Squirts and Pee-Wees, Coburn held a Q&A session with the Bantams and Midgets. Students asked him questions ranging from where he grew up to how he felt about being a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. After answering questions from everyone and signing autographs, Coburn went back on the ice to continue coaching the younger players.
Riley Cote visited the camp on Wednesday, June 25th to deliver a motivational speech and to interact with ESYHF camp participants. As a physical left winger, Cote has solidified himself as one of the NHL’s toughest players and students were captivated during his entire visit. Riley focused his speech on life skills, the importance of good sportsmanship, working hard in school and succeeding both on and off the ice. At the end of his session, Cote signed autographs for everyone and answered any questions the players had for him.
