The next step in the construction of the dynamic new Philly Live entertainment district begins with the arrival of the first of 250-tons of steel. The materials are expected to arrive on-site on Tuesday, June 21st at 11:00 AM. Steel will immediately be erected upon its arrival to the site. Comcast-Spectacor and its development partners, The Cordish Company, of Baltimore, MD, anticipate an April 2012 opening of Philly Live which will feature 10 dining and entertainment venues and will be open on event days and non-event days.
The steel which will be used in the project is being provided by Emmaus of Lehigh County, PA. Additional steel will soon arrive from New Jersey and Virginia.
The Spectrum, the original home of the Philadelphia Flyers and former home of the Philadelphia 76ers, was razed to make way for Philly Live. The new venue will be located at Pattison Avenue and 11th Street in South Philadelphia.
